Best Advertiser Lead-Gen Campaign Second Street Award Winner

The Idea

The team at USA Today had a food retail client that was looking to increase their brand awareness and collect sales leads. They decided to take advantage of the holiday season and craft a sweepstakes with a great prize to draw in their audience.

The Execution

The sweepstakes ran for the month of December and boasted a prize of a year of steak at a $1,500 value. Users were able to enter once per day, and they were further incentivized with the extra chances of sharing the contest with their friends and liking the Facebook page of the advertiser.

The registration form also included an opt-in for the advertiser and a lead-gen question to collect much needed marketing data.

And to drive even further traffic for their advertiser, the USA Today team included a coupon in the Thank You Email so everyone who entered received had the opportunity to receive $40 off a $120 purchase.

The Results

The sweepstakes drew in nearly 15,000 people, and this huge exposure resulted in 1,800 individual sales for their advertiser. With an average sale being $90, this brought in $162,000 in revenue from the leads from this promotion.

USA Today walked away with $20,000 in revenue, which means that their advertiser saw an 8x return on their investment! And because of the success of this campaign, this advertiser is already doing promotions more consistently with USA Today!
