Photo Contests
Summer is one of the biggest picture-taking seasons of the year. Plus, these photo contests will drive tons of entries and lots of pageviews.
The Forsyth County News found a great opportunity to tie into the Father’s Day holiday. A grill photo contest made an easy pitch to local hardware store, Ace Hardware. It was a success, with more than 3,800 votes after the two week submission period with votes cast for the ugliest grill. One lucky winner with the most amount of votes was awarded a brand new Weber grill valued at over $750. The paper came away with $1,500 in revenue.
WBZA-FM in Rochester, NY ran a Dog Days of Summer photo contest which received $6,000 in sponsorship revenue from sponsors such as veterinarians and dog boarding & training facilities.
Father’s Day-themed photo contests are as easy as it gets, with everyone taking and sharing photos of themselves with their fathers on Father’s Day. Give them an incentive to post it within your contest instead of just on their own social media pages. Here is an example of a Dad and I contest run by the Kearney Hub in Nebraska.
